Day 1:

In the afternoon, your first encounter with this enchanting UNESCO city begins at Wat Xiengthong, an architectural jewel with sweeping roofs and the iconic “Tree of Life” mosaic glistening on its walls. A gentle stroll through the old town reveals the serene rhythm of daily life before continuing to the Royal Palace Museum, once home to King Sisavang Vong. As the sun sets, ascend Mount Phousi for a panoramic view over the Mekong and the city bathed in golden light. This morning, set off on a scenic cycling journey into Luang Prabang’s countryside, where tranquil villages and rice fields line the road. Stop at Ban Xang Hai, a village famed for centuries of crafting clay jars and distilling traditional Lao whisky. Continue along rustic trails until reaching Ban Pak Ou for a leisurely lunch.
Afterwards, cross the Mekong to explore the revered Pak Ou Caves, where thousands of Buddha images, offered over generations, line the limestone chambers overlooking the river confluence. Return to Luang Prabang by boat, gliding past riverbanks framed by limestone cliffs and lush forests. If time allows, stop at Ban Xang Khong to witness the delicate art of mulberry paper-making. Arrive back in the city by late afternoon, with the evening at leisure.

Immerse yourself in authentic rural life with a morning at a community-run rice farm, where you may join the farmers in planting, harvesting, or simply observing from a traditional stilt house overlooking green paddies. Explore workshops of bamboo weaving, blacksmithing, and sugarcane processing before a garden tour highlighting the healing power of herbs. After a rustic lunch overlooking the fields, drive to the spectacular Kuang Si Waterfalls, a cascade of turquoise pools tumbling through the forest. Swim in the refreshing waters or simply enjoy the natural beauty. Nearby, visit the Bear Rescue Center, home to bears saved from poachers. On the return to town, stop at the Ock Pop Tok Living Crafts Center, where expert artisans weave exquisite fabrics along the Mekong, an inspiring place to watch the sunset.

Day 4:
Botanical Discoveries & Riverside Retreat (B/L)
After breakfast, embark on a short boat ride along the Mekong to the lush Pha Tad Ke Botanical Garden. Wander through themed gardens of ginger, palm, bamboo, and orchids, learning about biodiversity and medicinal plants that have shaped Lao traditions for centuries. Engage with expert guides, discover the Ethno-Botanic Garden, and enjoy a hands-on activity in bamboo crafting. A delicious Lao lunch is served at the garden’s riverside café before returning by boat. In the afternoon, stop at the UXO Visitor Center to learn about Laos’ wartime history and the country’s efforts in recovery. Continue to Ban Xienglom, where the serene Lao Spirit Resort awaits. Day 5:
Elephants, Hill Tribes & Tad Sae Waterfalls (B/L)
This morning, meet gentle giants at an elephant camp by the Nam Khan River. Ride through forested paths, absorbing the peace of nature from this unique vantage point. Cross the river by boat to begin an easy trek into the mountains, arriving at a Khmu hill tribe village where life unfolds in traditional ways, with farming and fishing sustaining the community. Your guide will help you connect with the villagers and understand their customs. After a short hike, cool off at the cascading Tad Sae Waterfall, where turquoise pools invite you for a refreshing swim (seasonal). Savor a Lao-style picnic lunch by the falls or in a nearby village.
